My 3 year old!

An update on my big girl!
I can't she is already 3!!!
Stat's update:
38 1/4 inches tall   -72%
39 lbs 9 oz           -97%

She absolutely LOVES her little brother, sometimes a little too much. She always tells me "mom, you are the sweetie and I am the momma". Her language is always improving and she says the funnies things! Here is a conversation with my mom (my mom was taking care of Abigail when Jonas was born and isn't the greatest with directions): Abigail - "did you go the wrong way?" Grandma - "yeah, I went the wrong way." Abigail - "Well, turn around!"
Another between me and Abigail: Me- "Jonas is trying to eat my nose" Abigail - "I don't want my brother to eat my mom's nose" Me- "That would be silly huh?" Abigail- "and fancy!"   (What fancy means to here I have no idea :)
A week before her 3 year check up, we went to the doctor's for Jonas' 2 month, and Reid, Jonas and I all got various shots. Abigail felt left out and said that she wanted shots too! What little kid ever asks for a shot? Haha! She loves Curious George and Little Einsteins. She has been learning her letters and loves to *try* to take pictures with our camera. She is very social and loves playing with her many friends here in Des Moines and going to the playgrounds in the mall (what a life saver in the winter!)

Enjoy the pictures!! (They are not in any particular order)

1 Month

I cannot believe it has been a month already! Time is flying by so fast!
Honestly I was scared to have another baby because I loved Abigail so much, I wasn't sure if I would be able to love another baby as much as I love her. I'm sure every mom out there that has more than one child could assure me that I wouldn't/shouldn't worry about that because it comes so naturally. It does, I love both of them so much, I didn't know I had that much love to give.

Anyway, we all want to see how Jonas is growing, so here it is:
Weight: 11 pounds 12 ounces               86%
Height: 22 1/2 inches to 23 inches         86%

Things that happened this month:

  • Met Grandma Wiehoff
  • Met Aunty Jayne
  • Met Grandpa Wiehoff
  • Went to the Dr.'s twice (1 week weight check and 2 week check up)
  • Found my hands on 7-28
  • Met Great Aunt Susie
  • Met some girls from church at a girls' dessert night
  • Trying hard to hold up his head
  • Lets mom sleep for 4-5 hours every night
  • Breastfeeds about every 3 hours
  • Smiles all the time (unfortunately they aren't the real smiles, just reflexes)
  • Is super noisy! He grunts all the time when he sleeps
  • Loves his momma, and calms down when she holds him
  • Been watching the Olympics
  • Rides well in the car
Holding his head up. He is so strong!
Jonas studying with dad while dad watches the Olympics
 He is just handsome
So tiny next to his big sister granted this was taken just a couple days after his homecoming.

More Garden

I haven't been to the garden in weeks and so finally last night I went. Reid has taken care of it and I would stay home with the little ones and I would always hear about the tomatoes or the watermelon or whatever and I was kinda getting jealous that he got to see it. I had to go, plus Reid needed to study, so it worked out. My friend Kelsi told me to take pictures the next time I went and as I was on my way, I realized I forgot the camera. So the following pictures were taken on my phone. I hope they are alright. The pictures are also out of order, so sorry.
Here are two of our cantaloupe. I have no idea how to tell when they are done. I can barely tell when the cantaloupe at the store is ready. :)
Our "prize" watermelon! It kinda looks like a squash in its shape. Hopefully it wont taste like one! Here you can see watermelon #1 and #2
The tomatoes are really starting to pop out! Last time I saw them, there were only 3 tomatoes and now there are 8-10.
Just saw this little guy. Watermelon #3
 And watermelon #4
The whole garden is just about over-run with watermelon plants! Almost the whole right side is watermelon
Basil is starting to grow more!
Our third cantaloupe. This one should be ready soonish, hopefully it will taste yummy.

This really has been a lot of fun and a great learning experience. It would be so nice to have our own garden at our own place whenever that happens, but it has been nice to be able to have a little plot to learn with. Maybe next year we will have more success.

Success

I know we all want to hear about the baby, and eventually I will get there. This is one of the first times I have actually been on the computer (I feel like) since his coming and since Reid started school again. I wanted to give some praise where praise is deserved. Soon after we got home from the hospital with Jonas, Reid started enforcing Abigail to wear underwear and no diapers (besides bedtime). After about 2 weeks (so two weeks ago), Abigail was doing a great job telling us when she had to go, but still had a bunch of accidents. Today, I sent her to nursery, in just underwear (well, I did put a pull-up on just in case over her underwear) and she told her teacher that she had to go potty and made it to the toilet without an accident. I am just very impressed with her and so thankful for Reid for really enforcing it. If he hadn't, I would still be changing two kids' diapers all day.

I basically have a potty trained child! I cannot believe it!!

Introducing Jonas Doyle Johnson

I know, I know.... it's been two weeks and I haven't even put a picture up of him. Well here it is:

Two Sunday's ago, we went to church and I started having contractions, once every twenty minutes; that lasted for only an hour. When we got home at 2 o'clock, the contractions started again, except they happened every 6 minutes with a few every 10 minutes. I called my mom at 4 to tell her she should be ready for when it happened. She told me she was going to pack up the car and was coming down right then. The contractions stayed about the same distance apart except with a few outlying at 15 minutes. My doctor said to go to the hospital when the contractions were at 4 to 5 minutes. I was getting fed up because my contractions weren't very consistent and they kept getting more intense. I couldn't take the pain anymore and we decided to just go to the hospital at 8 P.M. My mom got there right when we decided to go to the hospital. We all left for the hospital at 8:30 and, by then, I was dilated to a 4-5 so I got to stay. At my 40 week check up, I had only been dilated to a 2. I was glad for the progress. Soon after, my mom brought Abigail home to bed leaving Reid and I (and the nurse). It was really hurting. I never experienced any contractions with Abigail, and I couldn't wait to get the epidural. The nurse got me all hooked up to the monitors and brought my lab work down to be checked so that I could get the epidural.  As the nurse was bringing my lab work down, my water broke. After that, things started to get intense. I got the okay for an epidural and was just waiting for the anesthesiologist to come. The nurse checked me again and I was fully dilated. She told me I couldn't get the epidural anymore, that it was too late and that if I sat up for the epidural, I would sit on the baby. She told me it was time to start pushing and she called the doctor. After 15 minutes of pushing, he was here; born at 10:46 P.M. on Sunday July 8th, 2012.
He was 8lbs. 8oz and 21 inches long.
